Michel-Ange Balikwisha has made an early statement this season, showing sharp form and positional versatility that could tempt Celtic into stepping up their interest.
The Antwerp attacker was on target in a 3-1 win over OH Leuven on Sunday, converting from the penalty spot to set his side on their way to victory.

It was not just the goal that caught the eye. Balikwisha, more commonly deployed in wide areas, operated in a new role as the furthest forward in a midfield trio.
The switch allowed him to influence the game from central positions, linking play and stretching the opposition in a way that suggested he could slot into Brendan Rodgers’ plans seamlessly.
The Belgian attacker endured a frustrating previous campaign disrupted by injury, but has started all three of Antwerp’s matches this term. That run of games has already brought a notable upturn in sharpness, and his movement against Leuven hinted at a player beginning to find top gear again.
With Rodgers openly calling for more cutting edge in the final third, Balikwisha’s timing could not be better. Celtic have been tracking options who can bring goals, creativity and flexibility, and the 24-year-old’s showing in a less familiar position adds another layer to his appeal.
However, any deal will have to take into account Antwerp’s own squad situation, with the Belgian champions currently lacking depth in attacking areas.
That shortage means Antwerp may be reluctant sellers in the short term, even if the price is met. For now, Balikwisha’s focus remains on continuing his strong start to the season.

If he maintains his current level, Celtic’s interest is unlikely to cool, and Rodgers may well see him as an answer to the attacking SOS he has spoken about in recent weeks.
His ability to switch from the wing to a central role effectively could make him a valuable asset for whichever club moves quickest. For Celtic, the question is whether they push now or risk seeing his value rise further as the season unfolds.
