NEW Celtic star Hatem Elhamed has had a good start to his Celtic career. The versatile defender put on a great showing at Ibrox at the start of the month at right-back but then looked equally as comfortable in the centre of defence when Nir Bitton went off injured.
Like a lot of Celtic players, Hatem reported for international duty with his country. Israel played out a 1-1 draw with Macedonia on Thursday evening but on Monday Hatem and his teammates crashed to a late defeat against Slovenia.
The game ended 3-2 on the night and it would be a 90th minute winner that would dash Hatem’s hopes.
Unlike at Celtic, the Israel coach clearly sees Hatem as a centre-back with the big man playing there in both games. It won’t do his confidence any good being part of a team who shipped four goals in two games. Hopefully the player can shake it off for his Celtic return.
