Bad News for Celtic as Australia Scrape Through in Asian Cup

It’s bad news for Celtic, but good news for Australia as the Socceroos SCRAPED by Uzbekistan this afternoon in their playoff tie. After 120 minutes of no goals, it all came down to penalties and Graham Arnold’s side managed to get the win.

Tom Rogic played until the 111th minutes before being taken off by the manager.

This means Australia will be in the quarter-finals and Rogic’s time with his country will last even longer. It might be great news for Tom and his teammates but for Celtic fans, it’s another blow not having their talisman come home just yet.

Australia has made hard work of their Asian Cup competition so far. Losing to Jordan in the first game and relying on late goals to grab wins against sides you may expect them to beat comfortably.

Tom was instrumental in their final group game scoring and turning provider to make sure his country had a safe passage through to the knockout round.

The further the Australian’s go in the competition the less likely Rogic will be to play in Celtic’s tie against Valencia.
