Trusty, who joined Celtic from Sheffield United for a £6 million fee on deadline day, expressed his excitement and gratitude after playing in Celtic’s convincing win over Slovan Bratislava.

On his X, Trusty wrote: “Celtic debut✅ Champions League debut✅ Dream come true✅ A night of many firsts that I will never forget🍀 Just a boy from Media, PA #TrustyTheProcess.”

The American defender came on as a second-half substitute for fellow countryman Cameron Carter-Vickers in a match that saw Celtic dominate from start to finish. The game ended with a resounding victory for the Scottish champions.

Celtic’s performance was punctuated by goals from Liam Scales, Kyogo Furuhashi, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda, and a late addition by Adam Idah.

Trusty’s debut adds to the depth at Brendan Rodgers’ disposal, as Celtic look to build on their domestic successes on the European stage. He’ll find it hard to break into the starting defence though.

Liam Scales has been superb this season and earned a man of the match display on Wednesday night. Trusty will probably be given more minutes on Sunday when Falkirk come to town in the Premier Sports Cup.

It will be interesting to see who is Celtic’s starting defender when the season finishes in May.
