Celtic have reportedly set a £33 million price tag on their star midfielder Matt O’Riley.

January saw Celtic knock back £20 million for the midfielder after Atletico Madrid made an approach for the on-form player. The La Liga giants aren’t put off by the failed attempt, though, remaining interested in the player.
However, Spanish reports indicate that Atletico Madrid finds Celtic’s valuation a significant hurdle, with Fichajes noting that the club has communicated to Celtic that they are unwilling to meet the £33 million asking price. Nonetheless, Atletico is reportedly prepared to negotiate up to about £25 million, though Celtic is inclined to hold out for a higher fee with other clubs interested.
This standoff shows the high regard in which Celtic holds O’Riley and they won’t let him go for cheap. He won Player of the Year at the club’s awards night, after a tremendous season on the park. He’ll get a big move this summer, and hopefully Celtic can get a big payday.
