Celtic fans’ fears about a potential exit for star striker Kyogo Furuhashi were eased last night.
A wealth of worry set in amongst the Hoops support on Tuesday evening when MLS side Atlanta United, who have been widely linked with Furuhashi, put up a post on X, teasing the signing of a new Japanese striker:

Fans naturally put two and two together, thinking Kyogo was on his way across the pond.

Atlanta, though, followed up their teaser with the signing of a different Japanese striker, Cayman Togashi on a free transfer:

Supporters had genuine reason to think Kyogo’s acquisition might have been Atlanta’s announcement, although the centre-forward trained with Celtic at Lennoxtown on Tuesday and came off the bench in last night’s 2-0 win over Dundee United.
The Atlanta social media scare comes after a hiccup from the MLS’ official website involving the striker. They put up an article announcing Kyogo had signed for Atlanta, only to take it down a while later.
They likely got the 29-year-old mixed up with Atlanta’s new signing, Togashi, in a case of mistaken identity, which wouldn’t have done the Celtic fans’ hearts any benefits.
As of now, Kyogo remains a Celtic player, and a potential move Stateside is just sheer speculation.
