Artur Boruc Fined for Punching Opposition Player

ARTUR BORUC might just be proof some people don’t mellow with age.

The former Celtic goalkeeper, who was no shrinking violet during his spell in Scotland has been banned for three games and fined around £5k for punching an opposition player and attacking a cameraman after a defeat to Warta Poznan.

Legia are struggling in the Ekstraklasa and are in a dog fight to stay in the top flight.

Artur, still playing at 42, lost the plot after the defeat and continued his tirade after the game onto social media to criticise officials.

As cited by SunSport, the Polish League Committee chairman, Jarosław Poturnicki, said: “The player’s aggressive behaviour must be punished in an appropriate manner, as it is contrary to the Disciplinary Regulations and the Code of Ethics of the Polish Football Association.

“The League Committee also took into account the player’s behaviour towards the camera operator.

He accidentally crossed the path of Artur Boruc and his reaction was unacceptable.

“He also criticised the referee’s decision on social media, therefore he will be suspended for three matches and fined.”

Artur spent five years at Celtic and had his run-ins with authority and opposition players during his time. He famously had David Weir by the throat after a Glasgow Derby game.

Artur won’t be happy with his latest suspension and fine, but he will have to adhere to the rules in this case and see out his three-match ban.
