BOYATA may have turned goal hero at the weekend but the row rages on if the defender should ever play for Celtic again.
Chris Sutton spoke on Sunday night after Dedryk had played against Hamilton and put in a man of the match performance.
The former Celtic striker isn’t so sure he can be forgiven for his actions over the past 4 weels.
He told BBC 5 Live Sport: “He’s downed tools. He didn’t want to play in a Celtic jersey.
“He’s disrespected the shirt. He shouldn’t have been picked today, and he ends up scoring the winner.
“Can the fans forgive him? I think a lot can’t. I don’t think he should be forgiven.
“But do you know what? People do make mistakes. It would help him a lot if he turned around and said, ‘I’m sorry’.
“And the fact he hasn’t done that yet, what do we make of his character then? It’s arrogance beyond belief. We aren’t talking about a world-class player here. We’re talking about a player who’s made high-profile mistakes in big games for Celtic.
Boyata and his agent tried to push a move through to Fulham earlier in the window and when Celtic wouldn’t play ball the defender downed tools and refused to play in two of Celtic’s European ties. One of which they lost and in doing so missed out on Champions League football.
Boyata and his teammates looked together on Sunday when the player scored, they all surrounded him and seemed to be supporting him.
Craig Gordon ran from his goal line to make sure he celebrated with the Belgian.
Is Sutton correct? Will it be hard to forgive the defender if he stays or would an open apology to the fan base go some way to healing the wounds?
