New Celtic midfielder Arne Engels has opened up on the ‘logical’ career step he has taken in joining the club.
Engels, 20, completed a transfer deadline day switch from the Bundesliga to Scotland, with the Hoops paying a record-breaking £11m for his services.

It has been quite the week for the midfielder who, upon signing for Celtic, was handed his maiden call-up to the Belgian national team.
Engels admitted it was an ‘incredible feeling’ to be called up to play for his country for the first time. He will look to make an impression in matches against Israel and France on Friday and next Monday respectively.
His first senior cap could come following a Glasgow derby baptism of fire on Sunday.
Engels was thrown into the match with half an hour to go and coped amicably, continually asking to receive the ball in the middle of the park.
He showed some positive signs and has now opened up on his decision to join Celtic in the first place.
On media duties with Belgium today, he lifted the lid on why he elected to make the switch to Glasgow.
“This choice seems logical to me”, said Engels (RecordSport).
“It’s a great step, I’m very happy.
“It’s [a] very nice move for me going to Celtic. It will be nice to fight for the title. This is a step forward. In Scotland you don’t play against any old Joe Bloggs, right? And there is the Champions League. With a nice, new format for me, with eight top matches, it’s nice.”
Engels will look to make a positive impression at Celtic when he returns from his homeland.
He has already made his Hoops bow, but fans will be eager to see more of the ex-Augsburg man in the next few matches.
