Arne Engels has taken to social media to deliver a touching tribute to Celtic supporters following the conclusion of his debut season in Glasgow.
The Belgian midfielder joined Celtic last summer in a headline-making £11 million move from Bundesliga side Augsburg, becoming one of the club’s most expensive signings.

In his first campaign under Brendan Rodgers, the 21-year-old featured heavily across all competitions, quickly establishing himself as a key figure in the squad.
Engels made 52 appearances in total, contributing 10 goals and 13 assists. His efforts played a significant role in helping Celtic secure a domestic double, with the club once again lifting the Premiership title and adding the Scottish Cup to their collection.

Engels’ impact on the team has been positive for the most part, combining technical ability with an eye for goal and a willingness to work in both directions. His versatility has allowed Rodgers to deploy him in various midfield roles throughout the season.
However, he is yet to fully replace Matt O’Riley and has come in for criticism in some quarters, but remains a young player still developing his game.

With three years remaining on his current deal, which runs until the summer of 2027, Engels now looks ahead to building on a strong first season. The Celtic support will hope he continues to develop as the club prepares for another campaign of domestic and European competition.
