The Belgian attacker has emerged as the top target to replace Nicolas Kuhn, who is set to seal a move to Serie A side Como. The Hoops have been tracking Balikwisha for some time, and reports now suggest the transfer could be pushed through in the coming days.

The 23-year-old raised eyebrows after missing a key training session with Antwerp during their pre-season camp in Austria, further fuelling speculation that a move is on the cards.
While official word from the club suggested a minor fitness issue, the timing of his absence has only intensified rumours linking him with a switch to Glasgow. It’s understood Celtic are ready to make their move as the Belgian side look to cash in before his contract enters its final year.
Balikwisha finished last season in fine form, notching three goals and two assists in Antwerp’s final seven games to help secure European qualification. His performances have caught the eye, and with his contract ticking down, Celtic see an opportunity to land a player with pace, flair and an eye for goal at a potentially cut-price fee.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to reinforce the wide areas following Kuhn’s exit and Jota’s ongoing injury absence. Celtic have already added Swedish winger Benjamin Nygren to the ranks this summer, and the arrival of Balikwisha would add further depth and competition in the attacking third.
With pre-season underway and Champions League qualifiers on the horizon, the club are looking to get deals done early.
Antwerp boss Stef Wils addressed the winger’s absence from training during the club’s pre-season camp.
He said: (GVA), “They’re struggling with classic preparation ailments. After three and a half weeks of inactivity, we’ve trained hard these past few days.
“I’d rather have these guys do something different for a day and get back on track, rather than pushing them to their limits.”
Balikwisha’s absence may have been explained as a minor knock, but it still turned heads with talks ongoing over a move to Celtic.
Milo Hormeans also missed the session, but it’s Balikwisha who continues to dominate the headlines. His ability to play on both flanks and his strong finish to last season have made him a standout option for the Hoops.

With Antwerp said to be open to selling, there’s a sense that the move could be tied up soon.
The Belgian winger would help fill the gap left by Kuhn’s departure and offer something a bit different going forward. He’s sharp in one-vs-one situations and links up well in the final third, traits Brendan Rodgers is keen to add back into his front line. His age and potential also make him a good fit for Celtic’s long-term plan.
Unless something changes late on, the deal looks likely to go ahead. With friendlies underway and Champions League qualifiers fast approaching, Celtic are pressing on to strengthen the squad for what could be a demanding season.
