SCOTLAND’S right-backs have fallen like flies this international break.
Nathan Paterson was the first to pick up an injury and returned to Everton after dropping out of the squad. Then, Aaron Hickey seemed to pick up a knock in Scotland’s win over Ireland. A stretcher was prepared for the Premier League defender, but it wasn’t required as he hobbled off the park.
Anthony Ralston came on and played the remainder of the match, getting a decent thirty minutes under his belt. He didn’t shine, but he was decent overall.

You’d assume that Aaron Hickey is now ruled out for the match against Ukraine when Scotland could seal promotion from their group. That would likely see the Celtic right-back earn his much-deserved Scotland start.
He’s, of course, already started a match for Scotland, scoring too, but he’ll be eager to get another ninety minutes to his name.
He was sensational last season and was wrongly snubbed from many Scotland squads, and now he has the chance to show Steve Clarke why his name should be in the conversation when it comes to Scotland.
