Nearly two years after walking away from Celtic, Ange Postecoglou still holds a firm connection with the club he led to five domestic trophies in two seasons. His legacy remains fresh in the minds of supporters, and it appears the feeling is mutual, with the Australian said to be watching on closely from afar.
Nick Montgomery, who worked in the Scottish Premiership with Hibernian before joining Postecoglou’s coaching staff at Tottenham, has offered some insight into the manager’s ongoing interest in Celtic. Montgomery revealed that Postecoglou regularly tunes in to follow the Hoops’ progress under Brendan Rodgers.

The 59-year-old departed Glasgow in 2023 to take up the challenge at Spurs, but Montgomery’s comments suggest Celtic haven’t been far from his thoughts. With Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham reportedly under review this week by chairman Daniel Levy, his admiration for his old club remains unchanged.
He said: (RecordSport), “Ange loved his time at Celtic. I think he cherishes those times at Celtic, as it’s a massive club. It’s used to winning, and when you go in there, the pressure is on that you continue that trend, and you have to win.
“Probably, people doubted him, but Ange managed to do that. He’s always watching the Celtic games and the A-League games, and the Japanese games.
“We always have them on in the coach’s office. He obviously really enjoyed his time there, and no doubt he’s really happy for the success again this year.”
Postecoglou’s admiration for Celtic is no surprise given the rapid transformation he oversaw following his arrival in 2021. Taking over a squad in transition, he quickly imposed his attacking philosophy and built a title-winning side packed with new signings and fan favourites.

His two seasons at the club delivered back-to-back league titles, a League Cup double and a Scottish Cup win, while revitalising the team’s identity on the pitch. That success earned him a move to the Premier League, but his impact at Celtic Park left a lasting impression.
As Brendan Rodgers takes charge of Celtic for another season, the man he followed in the job is still watching closely. With Celtic winning the league again and looking strong, it means something that Postecoglou is still paying attention to what’s happening at the club.
No matter what comes next for him at Tottenham, it’s clear Ange Postecoglou still cares about Celtic. His time in Glasgow brought trophies, exciting football, and a real connection between the manager and the support — one that hasn’t faded since he left.
