Ange Postecoglou was delighted with Celtic’s Saturday night effort after drawing 3-3 with Rapid Vienna.
The Australian played two different teams in each half and got minutes into the legs of most of his squad.
There was some rustiness out there, for most of the players, it was there first bit of football in a month or so. It wasn’t a typical friendly. There was a real edge to the game with both teams looking to win.
Ange was spot on when he recognised the competitive nature of the game and believes that’s exactly what the bhoys needed.
Ange told The Official Celtic Website “It felt like a real game and whenever you play away from home in Europe it’s a bit of a challenge, so for us, it was a great exercise.

“We did well in some parts and in other areas we will need to improve, but overall the key thing for me is that it was a good contest.
“It was going to be a good challenge against an opposition which is a few weeks ahead of us in terms of preparations.
‘But we need to expose the boys to real football and match pressure because we want to make sure we’re ready.’
“There were positive moments and some areas to improve, but you only find that out if it’s a good game and that’s the main thing to take away that we found positives and negatives.
The Celtic goals came from Matt O’Riley, David Turnbull and Kyogo. The hoops almost had the win in the bag, but a late goal for the home side meant a 3-3 draw on the night.
Two friendlies down and four more to go before the Aberdeen opener at Celtic Park on the final day of July.
Let’s hope the players have shaken off the rustiness and are ready to go.
