GREG TAYLOR has been praised by his manager in the Aberdeen pre-match press conference. The left-back “wants to learn” and “wants to get better”, Postecoglou told those in attendance. It’s fair to say that Greg has done precisely that.
Last season, like many, Taylor did not stand out as a star performer. Fans were questioning if the Scottish full-back had a future at Celtic. But after signing a new long-term deal with the Parkhead club, Postecoglou installed his faith in him, and it seems to have paid off.
Speaking to the press, via Celtic TV, Postecoglou talked about Greg Taylor’s progress in a Celtic shirt;
“He’s one of the ones that has really only had this month of playing this kind of football and getting into it. He’s developing well, he wants to learn, he wants to get better.
“Obviously, with our full-backs playing a little bit differently, he’s really embracing that role. He’s been great since he’s been introduced back into the team.
Interestingly, Ange opened up on Taylor’s leadership qualities;
“He is really close to Cal [McGregor] as well and he is one of the ones in the dressing room that take on a leadership role.”
What a turnaround it has been for the player. A year ago, fans were demanding the club bring in a new left-back, and some were hoping to see one come through the door in January.
After some exceptional performances, it will be hard to justify dropping the player.
