Ange Postecoglou has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur, just weeks after ending the club’s long wait for a trophy.
The 59-year-old led Spurs to a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final last month, their first major silverware in 17 years. He said after the final that he wanted to keep building at the club, but poor league form has brought his time to an end.

Tottenham finished the Premier League season in 17th place after a heavy 4-1 defeat at home to Brighton. They ended the season with only 38 points, their worst total since the Premier League began, and six fewer than their previous lowest in 1997-98.
Postecoglou’s overall record in two seasons at the club was 47 wins in 101 games — a win rate of 47 percent.
Former football chief Fabio Paratici is returning to the club to help choose the next manager. The Italian, who left in 2023 due to a ban over past financial issues, is said to admire former Ajax coach Francesco Farioli. Marco Silva, Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner are also said to be options.

Postecoglou joined Spurs in June 2023 after winning two league titles with Celtic. His arrival brought fresh hope, and the team started the 2023/24 season very well.
But Spurs’ form soon dropped, and despite winning a European trophy, the team’s slide in the league has cost him his job. The Europa League success will be a proud moment for Postecoglou — but it wasn’t enough to keep him in charge.
