Ange Postecoglou surprised many people on Saturday afternoon by putting central midfielder Reo Hatate in at right back.
We currently have three right backs at the club but none of them could play against St Johnstone. Anthony Ralston was injured during the Livingston game, Josip Juranovic is on annual leave after the World Cup and Alistair Johnson can’t be registered until January,
It left Ange with a big decision to make against St Johnstone; deciding Reo was the answer on the day.
The decision paid off. Not only did Reo play well in the role, he also bagged a brace.
Speaking to the media after the game, Ange revealed it wasn’t his idea to put Hatate in defence and the burden was all on John Kennedy!
Juranovic should be back for the Hibs game midweek and Reo can head back to central midfield. After that, Johnston will come into play. It will be interesting to see who Ange chooses at right back for the game at Ibrox.
