Celtic’s two new bhoys made their home debuts, coming on as second half substitutes during a 2-0 win against Norwich.
Moritz Jenz came on and looked comfortable, the big man didn’t have much defending to do, but on the ball, he looked assured and wanted to get the ball forward.
Aaron Mooy got the final 15 minutes of the game and didn’t look very sharp. The midfielder hasn’t had much of a pre-season and has had to keep himself fit while looking for a new club.
Ange Postecoglou recognised both guys in their debut, explaining we’ll see the best of Aaron sooner rather than later.
Ange toldRecordSport: “I just thought it was a good idea to get them a game.
“It’s a big occasion any time you make your debut for a club at home, particularly at this football club. So I wanted to give them that experience today and I thought they acquitted themselves well. Moritz has had a pre-season, although in the last week he’s not done too much – but he looked good and comfortable out there.
“Aaron’s not been training but the point of the experience today was to give him the matchday experience. I know what Aaron’s like and he won’t take too long to get up to speed.”
Celtic finished off their pre-season with a comfortable win against Teemu Pukki and his teammates.
Norwich didn’t offer much to the game, and the bhoys looked assured, even with a plethora of second-half subs that broke up the rhythm.
Has Jenz given the Celtic manager food for thought for next week? Stephen Welsh started the game against the English Championship side, but could he find himself on the bench come Sunday against Aberdeen?
If Jenz is fit and ready to go, Ange might well see fit to put the defender straight into the starting XI.
Aaron will likely be on the bench, or he might just miss out on the first team squad for the game while he gets up to scratch.
