Ange Postecoglou Plays a Blinder in Latest Post-Match Interview

ANGE POSTECOGLOU is a very smart man, the Celtic manager is actively looking for players to come in and make a difference to the team, however, he’s made it clear the players who are already at the club shouldn’t fear new arrivals.

The Australian revealed reinforcements are coming in to help the players – not replace them.

It was brought up because Celtic are on the brink of signing an international right-back in Josip Juranovic but Anthony Ralston again played a blinder for the Hoops – this time against Alkmaar.

The defender has turned a huge corner and has fans eating their words on what he can bring to the team.

Speaking to Clyde SSB, the manager said:

“I’m not bringing in people to replace people. I’m bringing in players to support the ones we have here.

“It’s inconceivable that they’re going to play every game. Callum McGregor probably thinks he can – and he probably could.

“But we have to be careful.

“I’m not looking for players to replace the ones we’ve got. I’m looking for players to complement what we’ve got, so we can keep building a strong squad – which we’re going to need.

“Especially playing the football we do, we need bodies.

“I’ve said right back is a priority position because Anthony is the only one we’ve got.

“He’s doing unbelievably well and he needs support.

“At the end there, he was still sprinting forward trying to create things.

“And I know he would have been running on empty, having played every minute of every bloody game.

“If we keep showing that spirit, the football will improve. I’m glad they got the rewards tonight. “

The manager is absolutely right, he knows asking his team to play with the intensity he wants means they can’t all play every game or they’ll burn out.

Ralston had a great game against Alkmaar, but if we had the option of another right back on the bench, he would have been saved the last 15 minutes or so. As it happens, Ralston was still hitting the byline in added time.

The academy star is really giving it his all and changing the perception.

Celtic won 2-0 on the night against Alkmaar and have given themselves a good chance of progressing in the Europa League.
