Ange Postecoglou admits the football restructure of the club is on hold until AFTER the window is closed due to the limited time the club have to bring in new players.
Celtic are undergoing a major transition and because Dom McKay and Ange only really started their jobs in July – things that could have been done months ago are now on the back burner until Celtic have a sufficient squad for this season.
The Hoops have brought in Liel Abada, Carl Starfelt, Kyogo Furuhashi, Joe Hart and James McCarthy this far. They’ve brought two young players into the club in Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide.
But there’s still more positions to fill and the Celtic manage is making the squad the priority above everything else at the minute.
I think most Celtic fans would welcome that approach. The manager told RecordSport:
“Whenever someone above me calls me up about anything other than bringing in players, I sort of say connections are bad. Can we try later!
“My sole focus at the moment is getting the right squad together.
“That doesn’t mean the things are not important. It is. It’s a priority. But priority post window.
“The most important thing now and the thing supporters and players would want is to get the right squad together for us to challenge this year.
“I’ve got some ideas and Dom (McKay ) has some on how we restructure things in the football department, so we’ll crack on with that once the window closes.
“We’ve got some gaps and we’ll definitely fill those with the right people. That’s really important and Dom’s been really supportive on that.
“At the moment, my focus is well and truly on getting the players in.”
The club have a massive game against Jablonec late on Thursday afternoon and they could very well have a few of the new bhoys in the side.
We still need a left winger, a right back, a striker assuming Eddy leaves and above that you could argue another centre back is needed as well as potentially a left back if Boli Bolingoli was to move out.
Hopefully we make more progress and start to bed in this new look Celtic side as soon as possible.
Celtic have put out job ads for key roles for a new setup but these things will take time to get the right candidates.
