Ange Postecoglou has revealed there’s no new updates on Odsonne Edouard’s future at the club and defiantly claimed he will continue to play the Frenchman.
The Australian is being very pragmatic when it comes to players wanting to leave the club this window. Ange’s approach is simple, if players don’t want to be here then the people who deal with the club’s outgoing transfers can go get them a move.
However, all he’s looking at is what any player does on the training field and their temperament towards playing for his team
That’s why the manager will continue to play Edouard until the player leaves the club.
Postecoglou has no qualms about putting the striker into the action.
Speaking to RecordSport he said: “Nothing has changed for me. Everyone knows that Odsonne is in the last year of his deal and there is plenty of talk that he will move in this window.
“But I just treat it as something that’s happening in the background.
“I prepare the squad for the games and he’s played in most of them.
“He had a little knock after Midtjylland and didn’t train every day – so I put him on the bench in midweek.
“But while he’s here, if he’s playing well and training well, I will select him.
“If something changes over the course of the next few weeks then we are ready for it. Has there been a bid? That’s something I’m not really involved in.
“I leave outgoing players to other people. I am just working hard to bring some in.
“Odsonne is available for Dundee. Will I need to speak to him? No.
“I’ve made a decision that what’s more important to me is the players I know are going to stay.
“If players want to go, I’m not going to try to convince them to stay.
“They are in a much better place to decide where their careers are going and what’s the best place for them. What’s important to me is how they train, play and present themselves.”
Celtic are still trying to find their feet this season and get their first win on the board domestically. They can do that against Dundee at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon.
Furuhashi scored in his first start for the club midweek against Jablonec and could keep his place over Edouard.
It still feel like it’s a matter of time before the player leaves Celtic but if Ange is happy for the frontman to be part of things then we must trust the manager’s judgement.
