Ange Postecoglou Hints at Celtic Starting Striker for Glasgow Derby

Ange Postecoglou spoke to Sky Sports ahead of the final Glasgow Derby of the season. A win would almost put Celtic over the top for the league title and the big question on many Celtic supporters’ minds is who will start up front.

Both Kyogo and Giakoumakis are fit and ready to go for the derby showdown on Sunday but only one of them is likely to get the nod from the start.

However, Ange wasn’t ruling out playing both of them when asked by Sky Sports presenter Mark Benstead. Listening to the interview, the manager wasn’t excluding playing both of them together and theoretically they could, but you just get the feeling Ange knows he’s starting one of them and he already knows.

The Celtic manager was full of praise for Kyogo.

“He’s a special player, we saw it at the start of the year.” Ange told Sky Sports.

“He has unique qualities onot certain kind of players have

“His movement is unbelievable , he’s got a really strong mentality in himself. When the big moments arrive he wants to be the man there. We’re going to need that on Sunday because we know it’s going to be another tight contest.

“It could come down to different moments in the game, if it does come to him he’ll look to step up.

“We can play them both, from my perspective every week, you kind of look at the team and line up that’ll give us the best chance of success. It’s not always about the guys who start either.

“When you spoke about us going top of the table, what’s made us stronger since January we’ve had contributions from a whole host of players.

“Earlier in the year when we didn’t have Giakoumakis or Kyogo, that was a tough time for us. Now we have both of them, yes, both of them can start but if one or the other starts we know the other one can come on and make an impact and that’s going to be really important.”

The way he talks about Kyogo being a special player leads me to believe the Australian gaffer will start with his J-League signing on Sunday.

Kyogo is yet to start a game against The Rangers up front and fully fit, is it his time to have his say in this derby?

The game kicks off at midday and there will be a sold out crowd inside Celtic Park to hopefully witness another Celtic victory.
