ANGE POSTECOGLOU has confirmed both John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan will be staying on at the club but that’s his choice and nobody else’s.
During the week, a football agent told an A-League podcast that Ange was told by the club he wasn’t allowed to bring in his own men and had to run with the coaches at the club.
A club spokesperson exclusively told CeltsAreHere.com that this was 100% not the case and Ange has always had a blank canvas when it comes to his backroom team. [Read More]
Asked by RecordSport if John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan were staying on with him, the manager was clear:
“I never thought otherwise.
“My history is if there’s good people in the building then there’s no reason to change it.
“So far all the staff have been excellent and have embraced where we want to go to.
“I will back my judgment in all these things. I take responsibility at the end of the day. We need to add to our staff for sure.
“We will be bringing in people at the appropriate time. Not necessarily in the coaching area but there’s other areas we need to bolster.”
John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan were likely for the chop if the Eddie Howe move had taken place. However, Ange has taken a different approach and because he’s coming in from overseas, he obviously sees value in having both at the club.
I believe the Australian is looking for analytical people and data driven people to come into the club to help the Hoops gain an edge.
When it comes to the first team coaches, Kennedy and Strachan are simply carrying out the manager’s wishes.
