Less than a year after leaving Celtic, Hyeon-gyu Oh has become a hot property in the transfer market, with Belgian side Genk rejecting a £9 million bid from Dutch champions Feyenoord. [Daily Record]

The South Korean forward moved from Celtic to Genk last summer for just over £2 million. While he hasn’t immediately nailed down a starting role, but his impact off the bench has been significant. Oh made only three league starts last season but still managed to score nine goals, adding another three in the Belgian Cup. In total, he made the most of his limited minutes and demonstrated a clinical edge that has now drawn interest from clubs across Europe.
It was Ange Postecoglou who signed the striker before he departed for Spurs six months later.
Feyenoord were hopeful of securing the 23-year-old’s services, but Genk have made it clear they intend to keep him. With star striker Tolu Arokodare expected to leave the club this summer, amid links to Manchester United and other top sides, Genk want to promote Oh as their main attacking threat for the 2024/25 campaign.
Genk are under no pressure to sell the 17-times capped international. Unless Feyenoord return with a significantly higher offer, Oh is expected to stay put and lead the line in Belgium next season.
He didn’t quite make it at Celtic, and it’s good to see him kick on.
