Ange Postecoglou was quick to shut down any headline makers in the mainstream media as they fished for a Leigh Griffiths sound bite on Wednesday night.
The manager took questions after Celtic’s 0-0 draw against Bristol City and after Leigh Griffiths was cleared of any criminality for an online incident, the manager was asked about his thoughts on Leigh.
As quoted by RecordSport, the manager quickly shuts down the question and makes it clear the Celtic’s own internal investigation should run its course.
“You know how much time I have spent thinking about that? You’ve asked me and I’ve just thought about it.
“We’ll let it run its course and once it’s done and we get back up to Scotland then we’ll deal with it then.
“I’ve not spoken to him.”
Leigh was sent home from the pre-season training camp when he was found to be sending inappropriate messages online to a teenage girl.
The police seem satisfied no criminality took place. There are many Celtic fans who believe the player’s actions still warrant some sort of action by the club.
Celtic will have to show their hand in the coming days — had Leigh not signed a new one-year deal two weeks ago — I think we would already have our answer.
Celtic are back at Lennoxtown to train ahead of the Preston game on Friday.
