AFTER the win in Motherwell, Ange Postecoglou urged Kyogo to celebrate with the fans, with the majority of the team beginning to head for the dressing room.
Many believed it was because Kyogo had been unlucky in front of goal, and was needing a confidence boost, but the boss had a simpler explanation.
Postecoglou revealed during Friday’s Press Conference that he felt the fans needed the usual celebrations, and it was only himself and Kyogo that were left in front of the fans. After ruling himself out of leading the celebration, he pushed the Japanese internationalist in front of the fans.
Postecoglou told Celtic TV;
“Yeah, he [Kyogo] is pretty modest.
“To be fair, I felt sorry for that fans. They were screaming out for someone to do it and it was between me and him. I certainly wasn’t going to do it mate. So I literally pushed him over. I think it was a good moment, I think the fans want to show their appreciation to the players.
“Somtimes guys like Kyogo arent scoring or they’re going through a tough time but i still think the fans appreciate what they’ve done for this club and they want to show that.
“Sometimes the players, for their own reason, are a little bit shy in receiving support.”
What a sight that would’ve been! Ange jumping up and down in front of the fans is something I’m now desperate to see!
Ange has a great relationship with the fans. He knows just how much the club means to its support and is now the face of the club.
