Rocco Vata making his second appearance for Celtic might appear insignificant because he only got two minutes against Ross County. A player coming on at 2-0 with two minutes to go isn’t really newsworthy most games. This time it was!
It signifies two things; we have players from the academy to be in the first team set up, and we have a manager willing to give them their chance.
It’s an important development for Celtic, who have lost some of their most promising young players to European giants like Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Manchester City in recent years. With that in mind, it is more important than ever for the club to utilise its best youth players and show them there is a route to the first team.

The move to bring on Vata may have been a small one in the grand scheme of things, but it was an important one nonetheless. It sent a message to fans and players alike that Celtic is committed to developing the next generation of talent and building for the future. It also gave Vata another taste of what it’s like to be part of the first team squad on match days, which will be invaluable as he continues to develop as a player.
As Celtic look ahead to the future, they will be hoping that more young players like Vata will emerge from their academy and make a name for themselves when the time is right. With the right guidance and support, there’s no reason why they can’t be part of future first team success.
