Ange Confirms Glasgow Derby De-Brief – Improvements to Be Made

Celtic fans were delighted to see their team move 12 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday night, as was manager Ange Postecoglou who hailed the character his side showed in the Glasgow derby victory.

The touched on the uniqueness of each derby game and how each and every one is different in its own right (Celtic TV):

“They’ve all got a different kind of context to them but we understood this was a big game.

“The ability to put more distance between us and second spot was always going to be a great challenge and being at home against Rangers is always one where you want to send our supporters home happy.”

On Saturday, Celtic certainly did send the Parkhead faithful home a bashful bunch.

It was a memorable Easter weekend for fans and players alike, the latter clearly recognising, at least according to Postecoglou, how the match provided an ample opportunity to widen the gap at the top of the table.

This chance was grabbed with both hands by Celtic in what was a game that had a lot:

“There was a good edge to the game and it had a bit of everything.

“I said after the game the lads showed great character to get the job done.”

In the game itself, Celtic did have to hold out towards the end although as Postecoglou stated, they displayed true grit to get the points in the end.

This is something that the Hoops have manged to do a lot under Postecoglou when needed and it is the mark of true champions.

Following on, Postecoglou said the match was treated as normal in terms of a review but admits the debrief contained areas where we need to do better:

“In terms of performance, we’ll analyse the game and we did that this morning, gave feedback to the players and then we move on and look ahead.

“Overall, there’s definitely areas we can play better in.”

These areas for improvement will be getting looked at by Postecoglou and his coaching team heading into Sunday.

The Australia is always looking for more from his players and this weekend’s clash with Kilmarnock will be no different.
