ANGE POSTECOGLOU has stated that tomorrow’s match comes too soon for Abildgaard’s debut after arriving at Celtic late on Thursday night.
The player has only had one session with the group, and there’s no need to throw him in for the sake of it.
Elsewhere, everyone made it through Wednesday night’s game with no fresh injury concerns for the Hoops boss.
It’s great news heading into the derby, with the manager having a full pick of players available for the patch.
He’ll be able to field a strong team that should be capable of extending the gap at the top of the table.
He said on Celtic TV;
“He’ll need some time. Obviously, he’s only had one session with us. Like I said earlier in the week, we’re in a better position than we were last year with throwing guys in. We’ll let him get settled, then see where he’s at in a physical perspective and make decisions along the way.
“Squad wise tomorrow, everyone is pretty much okay after Wednesday night. I’ll make decisions on the squad and team tomorrow.”
It’ll be exciting to see Oliver Abildgaard in the side and the impact he’ll make, but Celtic fans will likely have to wait until next weekend’s match against Livingston to be in contention.
Real Madrid’s visit isn’t the time to be handing out debut unnecessarily.
