Ange Postecoglou rarely looks to make any headlines after a match. Even when decisions haven’t gone Celtic’s way, the manager tries to be as pragmatic as possible.
On Saturday, we saw Ange’s fire at what he was witnessing from some of our officials. His reaction when VAR didn’t award Celtic a penalty against Hearts said it all.
Despite the dismal decisions, Celtic still managed to win the game 4-3.
Ange’s full time reaction was brilliant. It wasn’t just the usual tap of the heart and salute to the Celtic support. It was teeth clenched, fist pumped celebration. Every Celtic fan was with him at that moment. The anxiety inducing match and the horrible decisions that could have cost us could be put to one side as we picked up all three points.
After the game, Ange told PLZ Soccer: “I THOUGHT WE HAD A CLEAR-CUT HANDBALL, SO WHAT DO I KNOW, MATE? WE HAVEN’T HAD A PENALTY ALL YEAR. I KNOW PEOPLE, AND OPPOSITION MANAGERS, ARE SAYING THAT WE GET EVERYTHING, BUT THE ONLY PENALTIES WE’VE TAKEN SO FAR ARE IN TRAINING. SO, I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING ONE.”
The Celtic manager pointing out the bhoys have yet to win a penalty this season.
Celtic have the majority of possession in most games, most touches in the box but yet, they haven’t had a penalty this season. It’s quite the statistic below.
On Saturday, not only did the referee miss a Blanca team penalty for Celtic. The VAR team also decided not give the bhoys the decision.
Ange rightfully calling out the managers who say Celtic get things their own way. It’s just not the case. There is one side in Glasgow who do get their fair share of penalties, but it ain’t Celtic and it’s not Partick Thistle either.
