LIEL ABADA thought he sealed the points for Celtic on Saturday after he went through one on one and hit the back of the net in the closing stages of the game.
However, the linesman raised his flag, and the goal was chopped off. VAR checked the decision and agreed with the decision that was made on the pitch.
In real-time, it looked like Abada was a good few years offside. However, the replays showed that it was an extremely tight call. Fans expected to see some lined drawn by VAR and for the broadcaster to show viewers. This didn’t happen, and fans were left in the dark.
At the end of the day, the right decision was made.

Andy Walker assures fans that it was offside and the lines couldn’t be shown due to a timing issue. He said on the Go Radio Football Show;
“It was really strange [not to award the penalty]. And then the one at the end with Abada. I mean, he was offside.
“I think there was some sort of time constraints in our programme we didn’t manage to get the lines out, but it was definitely offside.”
For a call as tight as that, you’d expect the lines to determine if a player is onside or offside to be shown to the viewers. This is likely a teething issue and will hopefully be corrected as the broadcaster gets used to games with VAR in Scotland.
