The new league season doesn’t begin for another four weeks, but excitement is already building among Celtic supporters ahead of it.

The Hoops are fresh off the back of winning a domestic double, Brendan Rodgers’ return to the club maintaining domestic dominance.

The boss was key to the Bhoys’ successes last season, and pundit Andy Walker reckons his old team already have some key advantages in the title race over their city rivals for 2024/25.

Previewing the new term, Walker outlined the champions’ previous experience of winning, financial muscle, and lack of stadium issues as key factors for their potential success in the new campaign.

“I think Celtic have got an advantage because they are a better team”, he said (BBC Sportsound via Football Scotland).

“They are a well-oiled machine and I’m sure they’ll get a few signings in the bag before the season kicks off. They’ve got a number of positions that they want to strengthen.

“They’ve got a financial advantage, a financial muscle that Rangers are struggling to compete with. I think that’s the key to everything.

“Obviously it doesn’t help if you’re not playing in familiar surroundings and whether it’s Hampden or Murrayfield, you’ll just lose a bit of an edge to your game I think.”

Rangers not playing at Ibrox at the beginning of the new season will likely play at a disadvantage to them. Liam Scales, though, recently admitted that Celtic’s full focus is on themselves.

The champions are going for four in a row and as Walker states, have a slight edge over their rivals as they seek to do so.
