Liverpool star Andy Robertson had paid tribute to former Celtic player John Sludden on social media after John sadly passed away earlier this week.

Sludden signed for Celtic on the same day Paul McStay signed for the Hoops in 1982 but only ever managed one appearance.

After his playing days, John took a developmental coaching role at the club and that’s where he and Andy would have crossed paths. Robertson was part of the youth set up at Celtic before being released by Chris McCart – being deemed. It good enough to progress.

John has passed away long before his time in what’s been a shock to many.

Simon Ferry who was also part of Celtic’s youth development when Sludden was there paid tribute to the former Celt.

“Can’t believe this. One of the best guys you could ever wish to meet. Si, stick my boots in that ice bucket would you pal.”

Celtic paid their own tribute which Andy Robertson quoted as he paid his respects.
