ANDY ROBERTSON claimed his ideal scenario in football would be to retire at Liverpool. However, the defender couldn’t help but dream of pulling on the hoops before his career is all said and done.
The former Celtic youth player was axed by the club for not being good enough. He would go into play part time football with Queens Park before being picked up by Dundee Utd.
His move to England put him in the spotlight with Hull and he was surprisingly picked up by Liverpool.
There were a few raised eyebrows at the time but what a move it’s been for the 26-year-old.
A champions league winner and likely to be a Premier League winner before all is said and done this season.
“But I’ve always said I would love to pull on the Celtic top and play. I played for Dundee United, which I loved.” Robertson told RecordSport.
“Never say never: I want to play as long as I can, so if that means finishing in Scotland or at one point going up to Scotland the I’d be open to it. But my ideal is finishing with a couple more trophies at Liverpool.
“There’s no hiding that I’m a Celtic fan, and of course I want them to win the league and make it nine in a row. I’m sure they’ll want to complete it”
If we were to nab Robertson at some point you would hope it wasn’t too late in his career.
It would be a fantastic signing if we managed within the next four years. Wishful thinking!
