Andy Halliday was full of praise for Celtic’s second-half performance after featuring for Motherwell in their 3-1 defeat at Fir Park—with Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah singled out for special recognition.

The former Rangers man admitted Celtic’s quick movement and relentless passing made it incredibly difficult for his side to lay a glove on them, especially after the break.
Speaking about the game on the Open Goal podcast, Halliday explained just how tough it was to contain Brendan Rodgers’ side, particularly when they stepped up the tempo in the second half.
“First half, we did an alright job in containing them to a certain extent. Maeda had a chance, and Celtic didn’t really create too much. But second half, they were excellent.
“They move the ball so quick, they make it so difficult. They move the ball side to side, and it’s so physically demanding when you go a long period without the ball. Then, when you do get it, it’s hard to make your own stamp on the game because you’ve spent minutes chasing it.”
Halliday was blown away by Maeda’s energy and all-round display, labelling the Japanese international’s performance as “a joke” in the best possible way after his goal and two assists.
“There’s so much movement in their team. They’re constantly moving, whether it’s boys running forward or making angles for the ball.
“Maeda. I thought he was a joke, honestly. He was so good.”
Halliday also heaped praise on Adam Idah, who got himself on the scoresheet and played a key role in Celtic’s attacking play.
“And I thought Idah was really good. Maybe that’s what he was needing—a run of games and being the main man.
“It was all parts of his game. His link-up play was good, he was quick, and when he got space, he was rapid. He’s a big boy too.”
With Jota also marking his return with a goal, Celtic’s attack and relentless pressing continue to cause major problems for their opponents.
For Rodgers, having Maeda and Idah in top form heading into a crucial run of fixtures is a massive boost—and with Jota back in the mix, Celtic’s attacking options are starting to click at the right time.
