Andrew Gutman should be playing for Nashville Soccer club for the rest of the season but due to the MLS refusing to let the deal between Celtic and the American side go ahead, the player is no-mans land. He can’t be registered at Celtic and he obviously doesn’t have a club to play for at the moment.
Chris Davies revealed Andrew will now be flying to Scotland within the next few days where the club will thrash out the young defender’s future and admits a new loan is likely to happen.
The whole reason the loan deal fell apart is Chicago Fire hold the players ‘homegrown rights’ which means he can’t play for a club under the MLS banner even though Nashville is not currently participants in the league.
Instead of staying at Lennoxtown to train with the Celtic team, the club sound like they’re already pursuing options for the defender.
“He’ll be coming back here and then he’ll probably go back out on-loan” Davies told Celtic TV
“Obviously, he wasn’t able to secure that loan, because of the MLS. That’s fine, we’ll just look for a different loan option which is going to suit Andrew.”
