ANDERLECHT haven’t rocked into town with the bravado or swagger that you might have thought they would after hearing a club legend calling Celtic “Peasants”.
Instead, the Belgian side have come into Glasgow with a nonchalant attitude praising Celtic to the high heavens while putting their chances down.
Of course, they have a big task if they’re to take Celtic’s current third place position but the talk from their manager and players like they’re just turning up just to enjoy the occasion is complete and utter nonsense.
They know what they’re doing.
Anderlecht are underselling themselves in a very obvious way in the hope Celtic will buy into their narrative. The mindset being ‘If Anderlecht don’t even take themselves seriously, why should Celtic’.
This is a team who were thrashed at home by Celtic and they want revenge. Paul van Himst told us they felt embarrassed to fall to defeat at home by Celtic and I genuinely believe that’s what most of the squad thinks.
With a new manager and a clear task of winning the match and winning it well, they will undoubtedly come out off the traps flying. They can compliment Celtic and underplay their role in tonight’s proceedings but Brendan Rodgers was spot on when he said this game should be a must win for Celtic!
Of course, a draw would do but the manager wants the win!
