‘An Absolute Embarrassment’ Sky Sports Pundit in Live On-Air Rant

Charlie Nicholas seemed as misinformed as ever as he got asked to comment on the Scottish game on Easter Monday.

Just because Charlie played in Scotland once upon a time, Sky Sports look at him as some sort of authority on Scottish football — in reality he only checks in to give it a kick every now and then.

Nicholas was asked about the current state of play of the SPFL vote and he was less than complimentary about the SPFL while backing The Rangers and Hearts for some bizarre reason.

Considering The Rangers stance is to get prize money without prizes being given out — it’s odd that he’s decided to back them here.

Self isolation might be getting the better for Charlie, as he needs to truly listen to himself for the first time. This rant indicative of a guy who’s not really got his finger on the pulse.

He told Sky Sports News: “It’s an absolute joke. The SPFL board is an absolute disaster, the people around it with ideas are all self-indulgent and people in Scotland are saying ‘oh Rangers are being self-indulgent, so are Hearts’ but every team in the country has been self-indulgent for themselves for as long as I can remember from playing, right through to now.

“I don’t have a problem with the business, which doesn’t survive unless it makes money. But a lot of these guys are now in a position that they’re having a say at the top level of our game and it’s become an absolute embarrassment… Dundee don’t need to vote, everybody now has another 26 days, they’re counting down the clock and it’s an absolute joke.

“These things are choking the life out of the game up here and I wish somebody would get them around the table and say ‘do you think you’re good enough to represent the game?’, because I don’t think they are.”

Celtic have remained silent while The Rangers and Hearts have been shouting to anybody who will listen.

Scottish football is in a state at times because the media decide to sensationalise agendas rather than seek the truth.
