ALLY McCoist has taken aim at Chris Sutton for not including Callum McGregor in his shortlist for player of the year.

McCoist believes the Celtic captain has been running the midfield for the past 24 months and should not be excluded from consideration.
On BT Sport‘s Scottish Football Extra show, McCoist put forward his shortlist of Kyogo, Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, Motherwell forward Kevin Van Veen and Celtic skipper Callum McGregor.
McCoist believes Kyogo is almost a certainty to win the award. He currently has 23 goals in 31 appearances and is on the hunt for more in the final games of the season.
He said:
“It’s bordering on obscene that he doesn’t have Callum McGregor in his shortlist, by the way. He has effectively run that midfield, I like Hatate good player, Callum McGregor has run that midfield for about 24 months and you’ve not got him in the shortlist for player of the year.
“That is an absolutely shocking decision. The wee fella up front (Kyogo) is a shoo-in to be in the top four because not only does he score goals he scores important goals.”
Celtic fans have sided with McCoist for once. Callum McGregor, and Reo Hatate, should both be in the conversation for player of the year. It’s rare for Sutton to get a call like this horribly wrong.
