Ally McCoist Admits Fear Over Potential Celtic Signing

Ally McCoist has admitted he’d be worried if Celtic pulled off one particular transfer this summer. The Rangers legend thinks the move could cause real problems for his old side, and he’s not hiding his concern.

The player in question is Evan Ferguson, the young Irish striker at Brighton. He made a big impact in the Premier League early on, but recent injuries have slowed him down. With his career at a bit of a crossroads, there’s been growing talk of a move to Celtic to help him get back on track.

McCoist says Ferguson is a top talent who could score goals anywhere if he stays fit. And if he ends up at Celtic Park, McCoist believes it could come back to haunt Rangers.

He made it clear he rates Ferguson highly, and that seeing him in green and white would be a worrying sight for those at Ibrox.

He said: (the Scottish Sun), “I’m a fan. Oh aye. I want him to get fit. I really like Evan Ferguson and I really want him to get fit and stay fit.

“He can finish. Out of all the younger ones coming through, I thought Evan Ferguson was the one to watch.

“Obviously he’s got one or two injuries going on that have held him back a bit, but if he keeps himself fit he will score goals anywhere.

“The unfortunate thing for my mob is, he could come in and hurt us. Definitely. It wouldn’t surprise me at all. I’m a big fan.”

McCoist’s comments show how much respect he has for Ferguson’s ability. If Celtic manage to get him, it would be a big boost for them up front, and a problem for Rangers to deal with.

The Irish forward has already shown he can score goals at the top level. If he gets back to full fitness, he’d be a major threat in Scotland. McCoist clearly thinks he’s good enough to cause trouble in Glasgow Derbies.

Ferguson’s focus for now will be getting fit and back to his best. Whether that’s in England or somewhere else remains to be seen. But if Celtic do make a move, it could give the 20-year-old a huge platform , and one of Scotland’s biggest clubs a serious weapon up top.
