Celtic defender Alistair Johnston has continued his Q&A series on Celtic’s Instagram story, this time answering the question, “A moment with Celtic you will always cherish?” Johnston, who joined the Hoops in December 2022 from CF Montreal, shared his fondness for his experiences at Hampden, where he’s had a significant role in Celtic’s domestic success in recent years.

A Memorable Time at Hampden
Since his arrival, Johnston has won two League Cups and two Scottish Cups at the national stadium, cementing his place as an integral part of the team. Having experienced Hampden glory under both Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers, the Canadian defender has certainly had a memorable time with the Hoops at the iconic Scottish stadum. With Celtic already having clinched the Premier Sports Cup this season, Johnston could have the chance to complete another treble in May by winning the Scottish Cup. He achieved his first treble within just six months at the club in 2023, and the prospect of adding another highlights his incredible two years at Celtic.
The Special Feeling of Lifting a Trophy
Reflecting on his treasured Hampden moments, Johnston said: (Celtic Football Club), “I think there’s something really special about lifting a trophy at Hampden. I’ve been lucky enough to do that a couple of times, but the moment after, when you go over and get to celebrate with the crowd, you know, your half of Hampden is absolutely buzzing, the other half is empty, and you get to go over and do ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and songs like that in front of the whole crowd when we’re kind of interlocked. It’s really special, and you can see again how much it means to the club in those kinds of moments, how much it means to the fans, and those are the moments that I’ll definitely cherish.”

Looking Ahead to More Glory
With Johnston set to visit Hampden if Celtic beat Hibs at Celtic Park in the Scottish Cup quarter-final, Sunday’s game at Paradise will be huge for the Canadian. A win for the Hoops would mean another chance for Johnston to play at Hampden in the semi-finals.
The chance to complete a second treble would only enhance Johnston’s brilliant legacy at Celtic , and it’s clear he values the connection with the Hoops support that these special moments create. For Johnston, it’s not just about the trophies; it’s about the shared joy with the Celtic supporters that makes his time with the Hoops all the more unforgettable.
