Alistair Johnston celebrated his 100th appearance for Celtic in style, following the club’s emphatic 5-1 win over Aberdeen on Tuesday night. The Canadian right-back took to social media to mark the occasion, sharing his gratitude with fans:
“A milestone I couldn’t have dreamed about just a few years ago 💯
Thank you for all of your continued support and trust 🍀”
Johnston’s journey at Celtic has been nothing short of remarkable. Since signing under Ange Postecoglou, the 24-year-old has quickly cemented his place as a fan favourite. His blend of affable, down-to-earth personality off the pitch and fierce competitiveness on it has made him a standout at the club.

The right-back’s performances have often drawn comparisons with his predecessor, Josip Juranovic. While Juranovic was highly regarded during his time at Celtic, Johnston has arguably taken the role to another level. His defensive solidity and willingness to push forward and overlap has been a source of a lot of goals for Celtic.
Celtic’s defensive options this season have been robust, with Johnston playing a key role alongside the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, who remains the defensive leader at the club.

Brendan Rodgers’ side has benefitted from Johnston’s consistency, particularly with rotation in central defence involving Auston Trusty and Liam Scales.
As the Hoops continue their push for a potential treble, Johnston’s influence both on and off the field will be crucial. His 100th appearance was marked with a win and let’s hope he’s got at least another 100 appearances for the hoops in him!
