Alistair Johnston Tells Celtic To “Build the statue” For His Teammate

Celtic made it three league titles in a row on Wednesday evening at Rugby Park, sweeping Kilmarnock aside in a dominative 5-0 victory.

Adam Idah got the party started early doors before Daizen Maeda soon doubled the Bhoys’ lead. James Forrest made it 3-0 then Matt O’Riley bagged a brace to rubber-stamp the assertive victory.

The dominant force in Scottish football, Celtic have won 12 out of the last 13 titles. Since the turn of the millennium, supporters have enjoyed a period of unprecedented success.

During such time, countless legends have passed through the Parkhead gates to strut their stuff but one who came from within is Forrest.

Since making his first-team debut in 2010, the 32-year-old has registered a colossal 492 appearances in green and white, scoring 109 goals and assisting 103.

Indeed, after winning the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday, Forrest reinstated his status as a living Celtic legend.

With the triumph, he is now the joint-second most decorated player in the club’s history and is just three trophies away from surpassing Bobby Lennox as the Celt who has won the most.

On Instagram, Celtic posted about this:

Among the replies was right-back Alistair Johnston, who simply said: “Build the statue.”

Although some fans would disagree with such a statement just now, in years to come, Forrest will be looked upon as a true great.

Supporters won’t appreciate him until he is gone, but he has given so much to the club over the years during a period of consistent prosperity.
