Alarm Bells Ring as UEFA Push Forward Europa Disciplinary Hearing

According to reports today UEFA have brought forward their Lazio hearing amid speculation the club are about to land a major punishment after being charged with Racist chanting.

The original hearing was supposed to take place on Thursday but has now been brought forward to Tuesday according to SunSport.

Right now, there’s no sign by UEFA what way they are swaying on this but the governing body could slap Lazio with several different punishments. One of them would be having to play their next game behind closed doors which would mean no Celtic or Lazio fans in the Stadio Olimpico come match-day four of the competition.

Celtic have been given a sizeable allocation and many supporters have already booked their trips to Rome – any sanction like that would hurt both sets of supporters on the day.

However, racist behaviour cannot and should not be condoned by the authorities.

The fact UEFA have brought the hearing forward may point to a more severe sanction for the Italian side. We wait and see.
