Aiden McGeady Weighs In On Title Debate; Outlines Celtic’s “Experience” Factor

It is no secret that Celtic are in a title race for the first time in several years. The Hoops are neck and neck with their closest challengers going into the final thirteen or so games between now and the end of the season.

A close contest is not something both the Hoops and Rangers have experienced in recent years, but one thing the Celts do have to their advantage is prior wisdom in winning the title.

The current champions have won the Scottish Premiership in 11 out of the past 12 years. Such knowledge can aid them in going the course once more this time, according to Aiden McGeady.

The tricky winger played for the Hoops between 2002 and 2010, making over a century of appearances. Now plying his trade for Ayr United, he believes his old team’s previous track record can help them to the title this time around: “Going forward for the season, it is very, very tight”, he said (Scottish Football Podcast via Football Scotland).

“Celtic have that experience of having been there and done it and hopefully it will be the deciding factor come the end of the season.”

One can’t help but shake the feeling the current title race could go down to the wire. Unlike Rangers, Celtic have players who have won countless trophies and Brendan Rodgers has a squad of winners at his disposal.

Such aspects of the team could prove crucial come the end of the season.
