Adam Idah On The Element of Celtic That Has Left Him Surprised

Adam Idah has had the impact one would desire from any January signing. In ten league games since joining Celtic at the end of the winter window, the imposing striker has scored seven goals and assisted a further two.

His strikes – particularly at Easter Road, Fir Park, and Ibrox – have proved particularly crucial.

Although Idah’s goals have been key for the Hoops, the Irishman has provided a different dynamic to the Bhoys’ frontline. His physicality is a nightmare for defenders, and he is also able to link the play adequately.

Born in Cork, the 23-year-old paid a flying visit to his hometown in the most recent international break. He was given a hero’s welcome, and rightly so.

The striker has become a favourite among the fans because of his goals with many calling for him to be signed permanently.

It remains to be seen whether any deal will be agreed with Norwich City wanting north of £6m for his services.

They hold the upper hand in any negotiations, but one thing that favours the Parkhead side is that the player seems to be loving life at the club.

Indeed, one element of Celtic has left Idah shocked since he joined at the beginning of February.

He said: [RecordSport] “You realise people are watching this all over the world. It’s amazing how big this club is. It has taken me a bit by surprise. I was saying to my mum recently, I didn’t actually realise just how many Celtic tops I was seeing when I was back home.

“They have always been there but maybe I just wasn’t noticing as much. It’s still a bit of a shock to me. It’s been weird. There are so many fans back home that will come up to me. Even lads I used to kick a ball with when I was young and are still friends are asking me for photos.

“I’m thinking, ‘What is going on?’ It’s crazy. My life has gone a bit strange. No matter where I go I think I’m going to bump into Celtic fans somewhere. Hopefully I can just keep repaying their support.”
