Adam Idah Celtic Exit Talks at Advanced Stage – Report

Swansea City are in advanced discussions to sign Celtic striker Adam Idah, Pete O’Rourke reports.

The Welsh side is hoping to secure a multi-million pound deal for the Irish international.

With the transfer deadline looming on Monday evening, the Championship side are pushing to complete the move swiftly.

The 24-year-old has struggled to find form this season after sealing a permanent switch to Celtic last summer for £9.5 million, following a successful loan spell. Despite high hopes, he’s failed to score in any of his early appearances this campaign and missed a crucial penalty in the shootout defeat to Kairat Almaty that saw Celtic crash out of the Champions League.

Idah’s poor form may have opened the door to a sale, but Celtic’s lack of attacking depth makes the timing incredibly risky. The club is already short up top, with Kyogo Furuhashi gone, Yamada yet to convince, and Johnny Kenny still developing. Letting Idah go without a replacement lined up would leave Brendan Rodgers dangerously exposed ahead of the derby against Rangers and the upcoming Europa League campaign.

Maeda has shown time and time again that he just doesn’t have that quality to lead the line for Celtic.

Celtic have shown interest in bringing in a striker before the window closes, with Sambou Soumano one name linked, but nothing has been reported to progress. Jamie Vardy is closing in on an Italian move.

If Idah leaves, the pressure on the board to deliver reinforcements will only grow more intense.
