Aaron Mooy to Lace Up His Boots Again in Blockbuster Legends Match

Former Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy is set to return to the football pitch in a blockbuster legends match next month.

MOOY

The Aussie spent just one year with the Hoops but adorned himself to the Parkhead faithful in his brief season at the club.

Mooy played 42 games for the Bhoys in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring seven goals and assisting 11 as he won a treble under the stewardship of his fellow countryman, Ange Postecoglou.

The now 34-year-old somewhat unexpectedly retired after his Celtic spell ended, but he is now ready to return to the pitch soon.

Indeed, it was confirmed yesterday that Mooy would play for Tim Cahill’s XI in a legends match against Brazilian great Ronaldinho’s XI as part of the ‘Joga Bonito Tour’:

Cahill’s XI includes some Aussie greats such as Archie Thompson, James Troisi, and former Celtic striker Scott McDonald.

Ronaldinho has recruited the likes of Cassio and Jean Narde to play in the exhibition match in Sydney.

Seeing Mooy and McDonald roll back the years together is an exciting prospect for any Celtic fans down under.

The pair both enjoyed success in Glasgow’s east end but during separate eras.

They will now unite and look to take down the might of Ronaldinho and his Brazilian colleagues.

Perhaps Cahill could call on the expertise of another retired Aussie ex-Celt, Tom Rogic, to beef up his squad.
