A Rare Opportunity for Celtic

Scotland take on Slovakia today in the UEFA Nations League. While Celtic supporters have not been thrilled with international duty in recent times because it has hampered our domestic season, today could be a rare opportunity where it could actually help Celtic on their return.

Leigh Griffiths got four minutes of football before the penalty shootout against Serbia on Thursday night. After the country qualified, it presents a great opportunity for Steve Clarke to bring in some fringe players to the squad and let them show their worth to the team.

With every Scotland game now significant for players around the team, bringing Leigh on and giving him 60 minutes could benefit both Scotland and Celtic going forward. The Celtic striker has managed to help the club out even though he has only made most appearances from the bench, getting a longer run out, away from the Celtic limelight could do him the world of good and get his match fitness to a place where Neil Lennon would trust the frontman to start.

Scotland takes on Slovakia at 2 pm today and would be great to see Clarke give Dyes the day off and give Leigh the nod.
