‘A Fridge Next To You’; Moritz Jenz Sings Carter-Vickers’ Praises

Former Celtic defender Moritz Jenz has recently spoken out about his and his family’s love for the club and Glasgow itself. The German defender spent half a year on loan in Scotland, playing his part in last season’s treble.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers at the heart of the Hoops’ defence, Jenz built up a congenial partnership. Recently, the 24-year-old has heavily praised the American international. He said (The Scottish Sun): “CCV is a great guy. First of all, he’s not selfish. He’s a top team player. You saw him come on against Lazio and you could see his presence. Everyone was like, ‘CCV is here!’. It was very stable. But he is so important. It’s like having a rock, or a FRIDGE, next to you.”

What Jenz is saying completely backs up the way supporters view Carter-Vickers from the stands. He always looks assured on the pitch, and the now Wolfsburg man enjoyed playing with the 25-year-old. Jenz said: “We trusted each other, we had respect and I really like CCV as a person. I enjoyed it, and a lot of players will enjoy playing with him. Sometimes you have centre-back partners who aren’t very open to agreeing to things when the other one is asking an opinion. CCV was always listening and it was a good relationship. There was a strong bond, and you knew it was very difficult to beat this pairing because they understood each other blind.”

Everyone who plays with Carter-Vickers appears to praise him. This is no coincidence and the ex-Tottenham defender’s abilities and performances have further been recognised on an international level.

Indeed he was called up to the United States for their matches against Germany and Ghana. They will take place this coming Saturday and next Wednesday respectively as the centre-back aims to make an impression on boss Brian Callaghan.
